Fans of all ages will meet their favorite Star Wars villains when they invade the Indiana Free Library at 12 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2011, as part of the library’s Sci-Fi Day celebration of science fiction literature and film.
Members of the Garrison Carida Star Wars costuming and community service organization will greet fans in detailed outfits representing popular characters from the film franchise. Attendees will have the opportunity to play Star Wars trivia and be photographed with their favorite character.
Sci-Fi Day will also include a children’s science fiction story time and craft project at 11 a.m., and a free showing of the Hugo Award-winning film adaptation of Carl Sagan’s novel Contact at 2 p.m. Displays throughout the library will highlight classic and contemporary works of science fiction from its print, film, and audiobook collections. Sci-Fi Day is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be served.
